I discovered this week that an old friend Morgan Land co-wrote the screen play for the Iceman along with his friend and the director of the film Ariel Vromen. Apparently I was hiding under a rock because I can’t believe I missed it when it was in the theater. Bet you can guess what I’ll be renting first chance I get. Let me know if you saw it, what you thought, but know that nothing you share will stop me from seeing it.
There’s something completely wonderful about success in someone you know. Somehow this movie about a mafia hit man feels suddenly familiar to me. Yes I grew up outside Philly, No I’m not Italian. But that’s not why. It feels familiar because I knew Morgan when……And let me tell you he is an incredibly talented man with a huge heart that’s obviously still tickin creatively.
In middle school and High school I got to play Morgan’s leading lady in a few musical theater performances. The first being Winifred to his Sir Harry in Once Upon a Mattress. I had just moved. I was making new friends in a new school and this play is one of my fondest memories. If I had been smart I would have joined him at Penn State and continued our escapades. So Morgan wherever you are I want to send out a Huge Congrats! and wish you many many more successes to come.
Next I want to make sure you tune into the blog next week for a very special Tuesday Talent Interview. Okay they are all special. But this lady has one of the first blogs I ever read. She is part of what inspired me to actually come out of the shadows and begin posting my work on the wide web. So do come, read!
I have been doing lots and lots of reading and editing of stories and poems for other artists and have been slacking a bit on my own writing. So this weekend I hope to finish up a few more pieces I have half baked. We’ll see. You know what Steinbeck says about best laid plans…..
So Til’ then.
