“I don’t want any kids”
My Beloved Husband said
Leaving seed planted in my womb.
Or so it seemed this marriage either.
“I want a new life” he declared.
The choice you left mine.
But there was no choice really,
Only Goodbye.
Now, our karmic debt’s owed
my pound of flesh sacrificed.

Um. Damn. Wow. That is seriously powerful.
Thanks K.
Yes, I love the first verse too. There is a whole multi-layered story right there
I think that is where the story lives. Thanks Peter.
Your opening stanza is one of the most powerful I’ve ever read. Brilliant use of irony.
Thank you Karen. I reworked it a few times in order to achieve just that. Sounds like I got it. 🙂
