#NaPoWriMo Day 10 ~ My Tanka

Heritage

I set the Table
Plated with old crusted wounds
Salted from my youth
Family recipes repeated
Dishes scored leaving scars raw

***

This began as a Haiku and then grew into a Tanka. My first attempt with the form. As I read traditional tanka would have been written as one line. Perhaps like this…(I think)

I set the table plates with old crusted wounds salted from youth – family recipes repeated dishes scored leaving scars raw.

For Day 10 of #NaPoWriMo

    • Oh goodness. I’m not sure what you have that resonates with me, but I’ve just read a number of your NANO pieces and am a little in awe. I want to spend more time looking at all the other amazing things–you’re multi-talented 🙂
