The Weekend ~ 5/10/13 Motherhood

Anna Quindlen on motherhood | “Now I suspect they simply grew into their true selves because they demanded in a thousand ways that I back off and let them be…And look how it all turned out. I wound up with the three people I like best in the world, who have done more than anyone to excavate my essential humanity.”

Mother’s Day weekend is upon us and whether you’re truly celebrating your relationship with MOM, consider it an obligatory check-in, or just another weekend, stop and take a moment.

Whatever your relationship with your mother may be, close or afflicted, they are to be admired, to be celebrated. I do not know a more difficult and underappreciated occupation.

Mothers are the birth of creation, the center of devotion. Without them none of us would be here.
